Welcome to a traditional Jewish wedding in Capetown! The difference is that this same-sex wedding, performed in 2008, is sanctioned by the South African Union of Progressive Judaism. South Africa is one of only five countries to recognize same-sex marriages. Rabbi Greg Alexander, the officiating rabbi, says that unless religions find a way to embrace same-sex couples, they will be seen by many as irrelevant.

The men describe facing discrimination at school, at home and in the Jewish community; their journeys to accepting themselves and living openly; and their work to create a space for gay men within the Jewish community. This is an inspiring portrait of men who are proud of being both gay and Jewish.
